ACTIVITIES

The NASF aims to implement Albert Schweitzer’s philosophical inheritance in these modern times and making his thoughts accessible for younger generations as a source of inspiration. The NASF does this by focussing on activities and by actively generating support in the Netherlands, in particular amongst young people. In our view, a very practical implementation of Albert Schweitzer’s vision is providing (initial) support for small-scale development projects.

The NASF maintains that adequate and effective provision of health services is an essential prerequisite and instrument for the eradication of poverty and furthering development. By centralising health care in our project support, the NASF aims to stimulate a platform for sustainable development. The NASF mainly, but not solely, supports projects in various countries in Africa.

In practice this means:
  • Small-scale, local and direct financial support mainly in Africa with a strong focus on the development of effective, sustainable and accessible health care;
  • Providing opportunities and support for individuals and small local initiatives, that can not (yet) access large international donors, to start through a ‘microgift’, a small starters grant;
  • Capacity building through the facilitation and financing of training and workshops;
  • Implementing Albert Schweitzer’s ideas in this modern day and age and making them accessible to future generations through the NASF’s youth engagement programme, LeefJeNog?!
